Potou Melan is our ancestors’ olive oil, from our grandmother’s land heritage in Avia region in Kalamata. Simply stated, it is the top olive oil in the world! It is the olive oil that offered longevity to our relatives and compatriot friends in Kalamata region who consumed it regularly, from their childhood until old age.
Potou Melan is a high phenolity, single variety premium extra virgin olive oil with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) from Kalamata Greece. Melan is being produced solely by mechanical means at 27oC from the widely known Greek olive variety koroneiki. Koroneiki variety has been characterized as the Queen of olives owing its uniqueness at the ideal, for olive tree cultivation, micro-climate of Avia in Kalamata region.
Potou Melan has very low acidity when produced and is rich in polyphenols having a positive effect on health protection and longevity. Polyphenols contribute to its bitter taste with a distinctive pungency.According to laboratory analysis of Melan premium extra virgin olive oil the percentage of elaiokanthali it contains is greater than the average 99mg/kg, so it belongs to the category of olive oils that protect against oxidation of cholesterol, according to the EU Regulation 432/2012.
Degustation: The fig notes, the freshly cut grass and the aroma of wild Greek herbs will satisfy even the most demanding tasters. While the fresh olive fruitiness perfectly balances the slightly pungent character turning your dishes into an everyday pleasurable delicacy.
